SCHOOL ENTRANCE CONFUSION. BE SURE TO FILL IN ALL THE NECESSARY FORMS Councillor Susettte Palmer writes.:
In dealing with what I thought was an isolated case of parents filling in, for a faith school, a supplementary form for the school but not the overall Barnet form and therefore not being awarded a place, I was horrified to find there had been other examples of this locally. Surely it is not beyond the Borough’s officers when they receive, as they do, the list from the school to realise that if there are children on it that they don’t know about , they must contact those parents to get the correct documentation.
It has put the school in a morally difficult position. They have a full class which excludes some pupils who by their criteria would certainly have a place but have not get one because the Borough has no knowledge of their existence”.
I am taking this up with officers and if I do not receive a satisfactory reply (and it is hard to think of one, but let’s not prejudge the issue) will be asking questions of the Cabinet Member concerned at the next Council Meeting. |
