Councillor Jack Cohen

Jack Cohen, Councillor for Childs Hill ward since 1986, Mayor of Barnet in 2000. Former Chair of the Planning Committee and Childs Hill & Golders Green Area Forum, helped set up Local Agenda 21 and chaired Cricklewood Agenda 21 partnership. Active in the community for over twenty five years, Jack has served on the CAB management committee and was Chair of Barnet Domestic Violence Forum. Currently he is a  well known member of the local Planning Committee. He is also on the Standards Committee. A retired Probation Officer he is Treasurer of the Greater London branch of NAPO (the Probation Officers Union) and is a governor of St Agnes School.

Councillor Lord Monroe Palmer OBE, FCA

Monroe Palmer was first elected as Childs Hill Councillor in 1986. Respected for working hard for local residents he is  National Chairman of the Liberal Democrat Friends of Israel, Director of Barnet Homes, member of Barnet’s Area Environment Committee, Special Advisor to Nick Clegg on Middle East Affairs and was national Treasurer of the Liberal Party 1977-83. He has also been Chairman of Barnet CAB and Treasurer of the Disablement Association of Barnet. Married to Susette with 3 children & 6 grandchildren he has lived in Childs Hill  for 48 years. He was made a Peer in Jan 2011.

 

Councillor Susette Palmer MA

Susette Palmer was the first Liberal Democrat Mayor of Barnet. She grew up in Childs Hill and feels strongly about the area and its community. She was Cabinet Member dealing with libraries, culture, parks and leisure and does her best to restrain this administration’s cuts to these areas. She is a member of Barnet Borough Arts Council. She teaches knitting and has just published her first book.

She believes strongly in the Liberal Democrat principles of a fair, free and open society which enables and encourages everyone to develop to their full potential.

Her Open University MA is in Classical Studies and she has recently completed a Certificate in World Art and Artifacts from Birkbeck and the British Museum.
